Elbe Islands by bicycle

Explore the Elbe Islands by bicycle

Located near the city centre, the districts Wilhelmsburg and Harburg Binnenhafen are very colourful and offer the cyclists a lot to explore: Lively quarters, a lot of nature and fantastic views. Find inspiration for your excursions under Tours and also on the IBA Elbe Islands Map.

You can choose between two main routes to make the 'leap across the Elbe' on your own bicycle: Through the old Elbe tunnel 'Alter Elbtunnel' or over the Elbe bridges 'Elbbrücken', following the red-white signposted cycle track. It is allowed to take your bicycle on the local trains S3 and S31, except during the rush hour between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.

The HADAG ferry line 73 shuttles between the pier 'St. Pauli Landungsbrücken' and the landing place 'Ernst-August-Schleuse' at the edge of the 'Reiherstieg' quarter. Also on the ferry, you can take your bicycle.

At the train stations 'Veddel' and 'Wilhelmsburg' and also in the 'Veringstraße', you can rent a bicycle from 'Stadtrad'. You will find the exact positions of the bicycle rental service on the IBA Elbe Islands Map 'Elbinselkarte' and, of course, on the website of StadtRad Hamburg: stadtrad.hamburg.de
